On September 5 in the RA National Assembly the joint press conference of the members of Armenia-France Friendship Group Vahram Baghdasaryan, Armen Rustamyan and the members of the delegation led by the Chairman of the Socialist Party Faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of France Bruno Le Roux was held.
The members of Armenia-France Friendship Group Vahram Baghdasaryan and Armen Rustamyan highlighted the French counterparts’ visit to Armenia, which had been preceded by the meeting of the Presidents of Armenia and France Serzh Sargsyan and François Hollande in Newport, where issues of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, along with other issues, had also been discussed.
Vahram Baghdasaryan underscored with satisfaction that both during the framework of the meetings with the chairmen and MPs the further deepening and expansion of cooperation between the two countries and parliaments had been highlighted. The head of the RPA Faction has highlighted the fact that the head of the ruling political majority of France condemns Azerbaijan’s stressed policy which impedes the peaceful negotiations. Vahram Baghdasaryan welcomed the French counterparts’ statement, according to which, Nagorno Karabakh in future should become a negotiating side of the problem settlement.
Armen Rustamyan, also emphasizing the French socialists’ visit to Armenia, noted that they had always been for the protection of the Armenian Cause and had taken steps in condemning the Armenian Genocide. The Head of the ARF Faction Armen Rustamyan highly assessed the French public-political figure, socialist, founder of l’Humanité newspaper and the Socialist Party Jean Jaurès’ pro-Armenian activities since the beginning of the 20th century and his efforts made for the condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.
The Chairman of the Socialist Party Faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of France Bruno Le Roux deemed necessary the adoption of the law criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide by the National Assembly of France before the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.
Touching upon the issue of the NK conflict, the Head of the delegation expressed conviction that it should be settled in a peaceful way.
